1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Pass My Lease ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the Platform. Pass My Lease reserves the right to update these terms at any time, and continued use constitutes acceptance.

2. Platform Purpose

Pass My Lease is a marketplace that connects students seeking to sublet or relet their housing with students looking for housing. We are not a landlord, property manager, or real estate broker. We do not own, manage, or control any of the properties listed on the Platform. All lease agreements, payments, and housing arrangements are made directly between users and/or their landlords.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Pass My Lease. While student verification is available and encouraged, it is not required to browse or use the Platform. Verified student status indicates that a user has confirmed ownership of a valid .edu email address.

4. User Accounts

By creating an account, you agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information.
• Maintain the security of your account credentials.
• Not create multiple accounts or impersonate another person.
• Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.

You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings. Deletion is permanent and removes all your data, listings, and messages.

5. Listings & Content

When creating a listing, you represent and warrant that:

• You have the legal right to sublet or relet the property (e.g., your lease permits subletting, or you have landlord approval).
• All listing information (price, location, photos, availability) is accurate and not misleading.
• Photos are of the actual property and are owned by you or used with permission.

Pass My Lease reserves the right to remove any listing that violates these terms, contains fraudulent information, or is reported by other users.

6. Prohibited Conduct

You may not use the Platform to:

• Post fraudulent, misleading, or spam listings.
• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
• Collect personal information from other users for unauthorized purposes.
• Circumvent any security features of the Platform.
• Use the Platform for any illegal activity.
• Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to access the Platform without permission.

7. Safety & Reporting

Pass My Lease provides tools to block and report users. We review reports and may take action including warning, suspending, or permanently banning users who violate these terms. However, you are responsible for your own safety when arranging housing or meeting other users. We strongly recommend meeting in public places and verifying lease details with the property management before signing anything.

8. Limitation of Liability

Pass My Lease is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any disputes, damages, or losses arising from transactions between users, including but not limited to: lease disputes, property damage, rent payment issues, or misrepresentation by other users. All housing arrangements are made at your own risk.

9. Intellectual Property

The Pass My Lease name, logo, and platform design are the property of Pass My Lease. User-generated content (listings, messages, photos) remains the property of the user, but by posting content you grant Pass My Lease a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display it on the Platform.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violations of these terms. You may also terminate your account at any time by using the account deletion feature on your profile page.

11. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of New London County, Connecticut.
